“Fashion Designer Says Style Success Comes from Details, Not Price”
For fashion designer Park Yoon-hee, success in style is measured not by price tags but by the story and confidence a person conveys through their clothing. The CEO of Greedilous—whose designs have caught the attention of Beyoncé, Paris Hilton, and Maye Musk—explained on Chosun Ilbo’s YouTube segment ‘People Money Met’ how fashion communicates trust, status, and personal narrative. Her insights, also showcased during her stint as a judge on Coupang Play’s ‘Just Makeup,’ highlight that true style lies in details, not cost.
Park emphasized that “when wearing a suit for a presentation of a project you want to succeed in, the details are crucial.”
“When I go to judge someone, I make a preliminary decision based on their fashion before they even speak. A well-tailored jacket with properly fastened buttons, neat collars, and cuffs become the first tool of charm and language that expresses a person. Especially, stitch spacing, button quality, and fabric texture are the basics of the so-called ‘effortlessly chic’ appeal.”
Park added that the fundamentals of a businesswoman’s suit also lie in details, such as “wearing properly lined underwear that doesn’t show through when wearing a white H-line skirt.” She cited Lee Boo-jin, CEO of Hotel Shilla, as the epitome of classic women’s formalwear.
“Looking at CEO Lee, her clothes are clean and classic, but she adds edge through scarves, necklaces, or earrings. Of course, what completes the fashion of successful people is ‘attitude.’ Their relaxed gait and demeanor finalize the overall atmosphere.”
For men, it’s well-polished shoes. Park said, “When I see CEOs, they always keep their shoes clean and shiny,” adding, “That’s what completes fashion.”
Park advised that if one must buy a single expensive item with limited funds, it should be a “black jacket.” Even identical black jackets can vary significantly in quality depending on price and fabric. “Even if it’s black, it’s not the same black,” she said. “The quality of a black jacket changes dramatically based on fabric and lining.” The same applies to check-patterned jackets, as aligning the pattern requires more fabric, making them costly.
